Back To School NC is a reference site. You do not need an account, and there is nothing to sign up for. This page says what is collected when you visit, and by whom.

What this site collects

Nothing, on its own. Every page is a static file. The site sets no cookies, stores nothing in your browser, and has no forms that send information to us.

Like any website, the server that delivers the pages records standard request logs: your IP address, the page requested, the time, and your browser type. These are used to keep the site running and are not combined with anything else.

Third-party services

Some parts of the site are provided by other companies, which may see your IP address and set their own cookies.

  • OpenStreetMap. Maps on district and school pages load their tiles from the OpenStreetMap Foundation. Your browser requests those tiles directly, so OpenStreetMap sees your IP address. Their policy:osmfoundation.org/wiki/Privacy_Policy.
  • Microsoft Clarity. We may use Clarity to see how the site is used: which pages are visited, how far people scroll, where they click. Clarity sets cookies and may record how you interact with a page. Microsoft's policy: privacy.microsoft.com/privacystatement.
  • Google AdSense. We may show ads through Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. Cookies

This site sets none. The services above may. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the site works the same without them.

Downloads and calendar feeds

Printable calendars, PDFs and calendar (.ics) files are plain files. Adding a calendar feed to Google Calendar, Apple Calendar or Outlook means that app fetches the file from this site on a schedule; nothing about you is sent back.

Children

The site is about schools, not for children. It collects no personal information from anyone, of any age.
